About NYC Daycare Check
The safety records for every licensed daycare in New York are public, but they sit on government sites that are difficult to search and read. We put them in one place so you can check any provider before you visit.
What we do
- Every licensed center, home-based provider, and 3-K/Pre-K program in the city, searchable by name, address, or neighborhood, and on the map.
- A provider's page shows its full inspection history: each visit, what was cited in the government's own wording, the severity where the agency assigns one, and whether it's marked fixed.
- Free alerts: pick a provider you're deciding on and get one email if a new violation posts or its license status changes.
- Where the public record is thin, the page says so instead of guessing. How we read records: methodology.
What's free and what's paid
Every government record is free: searching, the map, the full inspection history, comparison, and change alerts. Public safety records should be public, and we won't paywall them, ever.
What we charge for is the Safety Analysis, the read we build on top of a center's record. It ranks the center against the thirty or so nearest, shows whether the record has been getting better or worse across years, flags violations that keep coming back, and itemizes the building and complaint records behind the flags the free page shows. It ends with questions built from that center's own citations, worth asking on a tour if you're choosing or raising with the director if your child already attends, and a checklist to take with you.
A single report is $9, and getting several at once brings the per-report price down: 3 for $20, 5 for $30, $5 each beyond (full pricing). You pick your centers on the compare page and unlock them together. Once you unlock a center, that report stays live and updates free for a year; a week before it lapses we'll email you, and renewing (for less than the first report) keeps it current. We don't run ads or sell leads to daycares, and we'll never sell your personal information. Sales are final once a report is delivered; if something's wrong with yours, like the wrong center or a page that won't load, email us and we'll make it right.
